Funny stories that are 2 seconds long..

Or at least that is what my night seems to be. Just think, 2 seconds ago photobucket told me I was forbidden to see my own account page (I love maintenance work, don't you?) And here I thought I'd be nice and get some new photos out for everyone to see. No dice! Also, while I was waiting for the bus this evening (in the cold might I add- yes we are having a bit of a cold front, and I of course gave a sarcastic comment when someone decided to point out the obvious...) a couple of the custodial cas members were sitting around and started trying to quote the "Who's on first" sketch, and all I could do was picture Kristy and Mike doing it in pirate form. I had to content myself with a smile so as to not scare anyone.

Thanks to work yesterday, I got to see the sun rise. and no I wasn't because I worked early. Try this - I got out at 4am, went with Dani to Steak 'n' Shake to quell our midnight munchies, didn't get home till a quarter to 6, and of course couldn't get to sleep till 7am. I love my job, really I do.

so last week went by pretty fast. Monday I had off, Tuesday was a wonderful 12 hour shift. My feet stung whenever I walked. Wednesday I had off and was supposed to go with Amy to Downtown Disney (cause I've never gone and she wants to take me) and then I was going to take her to Fantasmic for her birthday since had never gone. However, as you all noticed, i used the word "supposed". As you may have guessed, that didn't happen. Amy had to go to the doctor's that afternoon and found out that she had pink eye...in both of her eyes. So she was quarantined for the next two days and we have since rescheduled for this Wednesday.
Thursday was interesting to say the least. First off, I had my research paper due that morning at 8am for organizational leadership, and had to a bit of work on it the night before. Oh, and my alarm didn't go off!! That's always a treat. Of course I also had to be at a housing meeting at 8am as well (got out of the first hour of class cause this was a little more important). In regards to that...remember those room mates that moved out. Yah, they decided to pull to "race card" on me and two of my other room mates, and said we blamed them for everything that we did because they were black. They wish!! To say the least the case is closed due to there not being any efficient evidence to support their case. I just feel bad for the HR people who had to deal with it, it was a serious waste of their time.
Friday was a P&P party, and for once it wasn't raining. I was spectacular! NO WET SOCKS!! HRRAY!!! Saturday was, well work, and Then as I said Sunday I worked till 4am.
However it was a lot of fun because us girls in the back room decided to start belting show tunes out of boredom. Yes we did sound like dog whistles once in a while, but we didn't care. Plus our manager Brian came back and told us to sing Popular. We all just gave him he look of "are you serious?" which he interpreted as "what?" and therefore sang the first few lines of the song for us. It was amazing to say the least.

And now I must bid you all a magical night, cause it is way past Cinderella's bed time.
Hopefully I can get into my own photobucket account soon, so you can all see some new/old pictures!

Update!!!

So I have been seriously neglecting my blog, and for that I am truly sorry. You see I haven't had the patience to sit down and write, but since I have the time before work I think I shall.
Patience has been a virtue as of late however it finally ran out (hence the reason I haven't written). The reason for this is that Spring break ended on Sunday and after working late hours and dealing with some rather cranky guests it's obvious that you could stick a fork in me, cause I'm DONE!!! Due to this I was rather glad to have gone back to the weekly Pirate and Princess Parties (we had two this week). Also something else major happened. My two room mates moved out. Yes, you read that right - MOVED OUT! And the four of us that were left threw a little party for ourselves. Granted we were slightly sad to see the one go, but the other we were about ready to offer our help with the packing just to get her out faster.
Now, I can't remember if I said anything about the one room mate, but suffice to say she had a real problem with following the apartment rules, aka the rules she not only agreed on, but helped create...aka no boys in the apartment after 1 AM. Yah...guess who liked to have sllepovers with her new boyfriend. Anyways, it finally came to a head and my one room mate and I went and talked to security. P.S. she lied to us about somethings. Take a guess who almost flew off the handle when she found this out... guess I'm way to predictable aren't I. Anyways, tto make a long story short, we talked with security and housing and she ended up deciding to move out, and as for the other one, we aren't sure why she moved out but really we could care less. Does this make me a bad person? I'm not sure, but I do know that I'm definitely the lesser of two evils. Besides, I expect respect, and woe to she who feels otherwise inclined.

On a happier note We have had to P&P parties this week and so I was thrilled to stand at tunnel and dance along like the dork that I am! The only problem is that all the spring showers are moving in, so while it's tradition for it to rain on P&P nights, it's actually been more along the lines of thunder storms (oh, look it's raining again). But that's alright, well it was until the humidity moved in. But what was worse was last night I not only had the pleasure of killing a cockroach on stage due to a custodial girl not wanting to mess up her shoes (yah, I don't get it either) but I also had to play mother to my cast mate Amy. Did my usual 'hi, how are you' when I saw here last night and was greeted with a not so good as she slumped against the wall. Mother mode time. She had a fever, the chills and her eyes were slightly glazed. First words out of my mouth "Get an ER and go home." She didn't agree with me, so me being the worrier that I am gave the one manager a heads up. The only problem is that our closing manager wouldn't let her leave last night after she asked for an ER (and this was by the girl who only ever asks to extend). He then told her he was sick as well, however he only had a cough where as she was about to collapse. Guess how many of us were happy with him come close. Whatever. I made sure she did the least strenuous work and gave her Motrin until she left, cause sadly that was all I could do. But she got to go home a little early, and hopefully she got right into bed.

The rest of the week has been spent doing normal work and attempting to get back into a regular sleep pattern. Not succeeding quite yet, but I'll get there. On the other hand, starting tomorrow, I refuse (let me repeat that REFUSE) to work stroller register. They "re-evaluated" the stroller prices and singles went from $10 to $15 and doubles went from $18 to...$31. I think I'm gunna lose my head, or maybe just the money that people wont spend on strollers. Hmm....I foresee this becoming very UGLY. Thank God I'm leaving in six weeks. No, wait less than that. HOLY COW!! I leave in less than six weeks!!! Time sure flies when you're having fun.

But I fear I now must fly due to having to leave in bout 40 0 minutes for work, as well as stop by the front desk in order to pick up a new key (yah, they change your locks after your room mates move out). So hopefully this has quenched everyone's thirst for Floridian knowledge for now.
Ciao!!!

P.S. I finally got my pictures downloaded to my computer and am in the process of uploading them to Photobucket. WEEEEE!!!!

WARNING: UPDATE OVER-HAUL AHEAD

Ok, so people have pointed out that I've had a lack of updates recently, and upon checking the date of my last post I might be inclined to agree. So here we go...
March 8th - work
March 9th - Work...that lasted till 3:45 AM. By the way, no matter where you are in the world, 5am is still dark.
March 10th - work
March 11th - Went to a Pirate and Princess Party. Yup, you read right. Instead of working the P&P party that night, I had the honors of going to the party with my room mate Becca. So much FUN, and so many pictures. The pictures include ones with the one and only Jack Sparrow, me in front of Cinderella's coach (by the way, there is so much glitter on that thing that I believe a craft store went out of business just so they could do it) and so much more. Some of my favorites include the pictures we took while on Cinderella's Carousel. Also, before the party my roomie was the sweetest and gifted me with a tiara so that we could go as the Pirate (her) and the Princess (me, and in my pink skirt no less). We collected strands of beads (sadly they weren't giving out jewels that night), danced with Flounder at Ariel's Grotto, had some of the best cinimon glazed almonds EVER, and got soaked on Splash Mountain. To say the least it was a blast. Also, I got the cutest zip up hoodie ever.
March 12th - I thankfully had the day off, and I'm fairly certain I slept till some obscene hour of the afternoon. In fact I've done a lot of that lately.
March 13th - class from 8-5pm and then work from 7:15-1:15am. A nice point in the middle of all this is that one of my group members in my Exploring Marketing class has a friend who makes home made chocolates and she shared them with us. Oh, were those good.
March 14th- I spent the day at work. 10:15am - 8:45pm to be exact. I just love 9 hour days don't you. Also, for those of you keeping track at home, yes that's more than 9 hours, but I only got paid for 9. Joy.
March 15th- Work...there seems to be a bit of a pattern here.
March 16th- Work 6:30pm - 4:00 AM. And this is the beginning of the end ladies and gentlemen.
March 17th - HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!! I wore green, made up a St. Patrick's day table for my room mates, had corned beef and cabbage at Bennigan's, and then proceeded to work for the next 12 hours over at the magic kingdom. Yup, you read right. Like I said, it's the beggining of the end. Welcome to Spring Break at Walt Disney World.
March 18th - work...it was thankfully only 6 hours that day.
March 19th - OFF!!! And so begins the delightful habit of sleeping till 2 in the afternoon at the EARLIEST!
march 20th - No classes, but I did work 11 hours yesterday. Oops, I mean 11.3 hours. Let me tell you how nice my coming pay check will be. But I will say, as long as you work mornings, long hours seem to go by fast. It's just long evening shifts that go by slowly. At least they do when your in the back room. I have my fingers crossed that I get the tunnel position tonight.
And then there's tonight. I get to work from 8:45-4:45am tonight. JOY...I smell an IHOP breakfast in my near future. i also smell a clean kitchen. Oh wait, that's right, I smell a clean kitchen because I just cleaned it...AGAIN!!! So I'm turning into my mother, what yah gunna do?

Now however I do need to go catch a bus to work, so I will hopefully write again soon. If not, know it is because exhaustion is keeping me from moving.
Love everyone and Happy Easter!

A week has gone by...

therefore you all deserve an update. Sad to say there's not too much, but there is some. My brother turned 15th on the 2nd, so if you know him and see him, wish him a happy belated birthday.

On Monday and Tuesday I had the privilege of working the morning shifts. At least I had my Ids this time, right!?! Also for anyone looking at dates...don't ask me how it works but for some odd reason my last update apparently happened the 28th. For the record I posted the 29th. You might be thinking "what ever Lindsay, we didn't notice until now..." but I was slightly confused. Moving on.

Wednesday I had off, as did 3 of my room mates. So Becca, Riley, Victoria and I spent the day at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Lots of pictures were taken, as usual (and as usual, I have no idea as to when I'll get them up). Had lots of fun on Everest and interestingly enough It's Tough to be a Bug is actually kind of creepy. No, really. They do things that make you scream. Also, if you don't like bugs, especially spiders, don't go. However, on the upside, while you're waiting they have bugs buzzing well known Broadway tunes while you're waiting. The posters for said shows (in spoof form) are all over the walls. I think my favorite is still Antie is my favorite. Sorry Annie, you have been replaced by a red ant.
Hollywood is always fun. We did Tower of Terror twice and found there is this really creepy puppet that sits on top of luggage at the end of the ride. I don't think Victoria will be riding again anytime soon. I also found that I don't go into such a bad state of shock on Tower of Terror if I keep my eyes open. Who'd of thunk? Afterwards we decided to do the Back Lot Tour since we'd never done it before. It was Ok. There was a cool part where they give you first hand experience on how an action scene (earthquake and flash flood included) is shot on a scaled set. They also have all these props from movies out in the mini "bone yard". Sadly I was on the wrong side so I didn't get much of any shots which is sad cause they had motor-cycles from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, as well as the steam roller from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit, and two of the smaller ships from Star Wars (one was a snow cruiser the other was the sand cruiser). At the end was the really cool part. They had a little gallery entirely devoted to villains, so there were costumes and props from several of the more well known (including Joker, Two face, the Penguin, Vader and the live action Cruella De Vil).
Afterwards we went and ended up getting one of those put your face on this body pictures. We did a Star Wars one and we couldn't stop laughing about it...still can't in fact. Not sure if it's because 3 of us are now men, and look good to boot, or if it's because Victoria - the whitest of us all - posed as Master Windoo (Samuel L. Jackson's character). But, whatever. I was so much fun. We of course ended the nigh with Fantasmic where John Smith proceeded to do a "white man's dance" (you all know it...the shaking of the hips and pumping your arms in a circle dance) on the top of the steam boat at the end. Then we went to super Target. We were all pretty excited, let me tell you. Kind of sad ain't it. But it had a Starbucks, and cheaper groceries than Walmart or Publix, so you might be able to understand where I'm coming from.

Thursday was spent in class. Organizational Leadership is always fun. Heck, with a teacher like Frank it's kind of hard not to have fun. Exploring Marketing was really quite interesting since we had one of the managers from World/ Domestic marketing come in and talk to us. Sadly I can't ell you anything, otherwise I'd have to kill you. No, really. I was privy to information not allowed outside of Disney. Sorry. afterward I had a Pirate and Princess party, where it poured. I love rain it makes cranky guests go away.

And speaking of rain, we had a ton tonight. But the cool part was that we had a lightning storm where there was like a second between light and sound. Except for one...aka the one that struck the Main Street flagpole. Yes, you read right. Lightening struck the flagpole right outside the building I work in. Sadly I didn't see it due to be suck in the back, but I did see the light and hear it, and then heard about the happenings afterwards. Either way it was uber awesome, in my humble opinion. A group of us then went to Steak and Shake (Yah we have one right by the apartments!!!!) after we got out, due to early releases.

Oh that was nice, but bed would be nicer, so I bid you all a good night. Or perhaps a good morning since it's now 3 am. Also, I lied. There was a lot to write about. Sorry.

Today was a bit rough.

Woke up late, couldn't find my IDs, and got in to work an hour late. Gotta love when that happens, but the day got a little better as is went on. However, I was surprised to find strange bug bites on my feet this morning that have caused my toe and part of my heel to swell up and make it hurt to walk. I asked if there was a chance of bed bugs and co-workers informed me that the bites would have been all over my body, but should defiantly keep my eyes open. Wonderful. Oh well, moving on.

Last night was lots of fun though. Victoria and I were the only ones home so we decided to make dinner together. We made broccoli and carrots in a garlic-y sauce, corn on the cob, biscuits, and I made the pork chops. Now my siblings would be the first to tell you that me and cooking don't always work well together, however the pork chops were perfect. I drizzled them with Italian dressing and put slices of orange on each one and cooked them for 40 min at 400 degrees and mmmmmm... were they good. plus I made Barbie dream jell-o for a going away party we had for some of my managers today. I was informed that I was a regular Betty Crocker, I said what's your point.

Wednesday was nice, a bit cold, but nice. Ok so most of you are dealing with snow, but breezy and 50 some degrees is kind of cold when you only have a sweatshirt, but whatever, you can't win them all. However you can win when you get to go to Epcot with your Aunt and crazy Uncle. Yes, Uncle Dick and Aunt Carol came to visit (for those who couldn't figure it out) and I took them to Epcot for the day. They loved Mission: SPACE, wouldn't do it again do the intensity, but they thought it was cool. We did Test Track a few times. The reason we did it more than once was my Uncle was like a small child begging his parents to let him do it again. Speeding in a car..how could you refuse him, it was like being back in the cobra.
We then went to the world expo area were we had reservations for dinner at Tutto Italia (the Italian restaurant). Now that was delightful, and that is an understatement. We had this wonderful appetizer that included a bunch of Italian specialties, for dinner I had this pasta with a cream sauce chunks of ham and peas. But it was defiantly the dessert that got me. I had this chocolate mousse with berry sauce and fresh berries on the side. Mmmmm... it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
We then walked around for a while then watched fireworks at 9pm. All in all an excellent day.

Tuesday was a Pirate and Princess party were I had the privilege of looking like a drowned rat on multiple occasions thanks to the rain. Crossing the fingers for clear weather for tomorrow nights party.

Tonight I have come to remember my enjoyment of tuna salad...I knew Lent was good for something besides loosing weight. Also, I just found my ID's...seems they got caught between my mattress and the wall. Go me, not gunna happen again.

I bid you all a good night and hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Still sick...

But at least I can now function. Right, so the last post was on Tuesday, and everything seemed to happen on Wednesday. First of all I pretty much lost my voice - yes, Lindsay had sexy sickness voice - and then we all had a house meeting. We cleared up some basic cleaning issues (like leaving a dirty pan in the sink for 3 days till someone got tired of looking at it, or needed it) and that we didn't want the new boyfriend in the apartment after 2 am. BOOOOOM!!!! No really. It started out ok, really. We were calm and handled it like adults. Then the irrational "lets raise our voice" part came into play, followed by the lets get out of control, then Lindsay (with here broken, squeeky voice no less) told the girl (I'm not naming anyone in this post) to calm down in a rather loud voice. Yes I yelled and she went postal. By the end of the night everything was cleared up, he won't be staying here past 2am, and the girl really doesn't talk to us anymore. Nothing new there I'm afraid.

Thursday I had class, which is starting to become a much loved class by the way, and we did some basic analysis to see what our strengths and weaknesses are. Apparently my strengths are boldness (go figure) and self-renewal. Now self-renewal doesn't mean what you all think. It actually means that when there's a problem I'll exhaust all ways I can think of to solve it, and if all else fails will turn around and either ask for help or read up on the subject. Not bad. Plus we're doing mock interviews next week where our teacher will show us how we can name those traits in an interview for a leadership position. By the way Dad, you were right. This is probably the best possible class for me to take.

Friday was the Pirate and Princess Party, and as always I enjoyed it. It's kind of hard not too. You always see the kids dressed up in the costumes (the parents get into it too and let me tell you, that can be interesting to say the least), and there are less people so it stays relatively calm after 8-8:30-ish. Not to mention the better music. No really, I love Hello Dolly! the Music Man, and Oklahoma, but when you here the score to their more mozy-dozy songs continuously for hours on end, they start to get annoying. So songs you can sing to are a rather enjoyable reprieve. We also found a dead cockroach in one of the incoming strollers. We don't know how it got there (no one screamed, so I think the kids in the stroller didn't even notice), but it was on its back and in perfect condition. So we being who we are in the back, picked it up and laid it on a towel to show everyone later. That didn't happen. Jonas (our closing manager that night) walked back saw it and proceeded to crush it with the a dust pan. What was more entertaining was the grossed out, manic look on his face. It made me think of several girls I know, but that's besides the point. After that I pointed out that it was already dead and he told the room at large that that just made it all the easier. We laughed so hard, stacking seemed to be a little more fun the rest of the night.

And last night, I got stuck stacking strollers from 8 o'clock on. Man did I get a work out. The reason I say that is because that's when all the strollers come back - right after the parade and fireworks- so I was stacking as quickly as possible and getting said stacks out of the way. But nothing else spectacular I'm afraid.

And with that I bid you all a fond fair-well for I need to finish my coffee, then hop in the shower because I have work at 4.
Bye-bye.

Sickness = not cool

So as I’m sitting here I am enjoying a delicious meal of ham & cheese hot pocket, fruit punch and cold medicine. Lucky me. The first two look wonderful, but the cold medicine looks like it would taste like citrus, smells like cherry and tastes like…crap. Oh well, it was either that or pills, and we all know how well I do with those. And the alternative of allowing the cold just sit and continue to fester was not an option. Sorry to say but when it hurts to move your head up and down while stacking and cleaning strollers is a bit of a problem. And it isn’t just the pain that can be taken care of by some aspirin either (believe me, I tried). No it’s the type of pain that comes from a sore throat that makes the area of your neck where your skull and spine meet and that little sun burst area around it ach as though you slept on concrete all night. It also doesn’t help that the delightful sneeze that I have as well is the type of big sneeze that makes the throat hurt even more as well as being big enough to notify everyone to the fact your sick. By the way, I need to complain cause my mommy isn’t here to listen to my sob story right now. In fact I think she’d find a way of hurting me if I called her up at 2:45 am. So you all get to hear it.

On happier note, we girls in the backroom had a bit of a Broadway review this evening. Interestingly enough I knew more of the songs – and the words to them – than anyone else there. The angel like voice I own at the moment defiantly put all the cats that are dieing out there tonight to shame. I think the only reason someone didn’t throw something at my head was because I was that annoying bouncing Mickey head on the sing-along videos. Either way, it was fun and gave us all that extra boost of energy needed for the closing shift.

Now, for those of you that are curious, I did work Saturday and at the end of the night accidentally sprayed myself with a hose when cleaning out the trash run container. This however was fine by me cause A) it made me laugh, and B) because most of those trash bags are filled with half drunk sodas, I had soda running down my wrist to my shirt sleeve, and the sudden spray helped clean it all up. Kind of. My poor costume can not have the same thing said about it. Hence the reason it’s now in the laundry.

Yesterday I didn’t work however. In fact I sat by the pool and did homework in 80-something degree weather. It was fabulous, and it’s at times like those that I’m able to NOT be home sick.

I love you all, and wish you a cold/flu-less week.

P.S. I watched Power Rangers during my break tonight, and it made me giggle like the dork that I am.

I'm not dead...

just a little sick. But that's what happens when you stand out in the pouring rain one night, then stand out in the freezing cold another. But I have yet to have any drastic symptoms beyond being achy and having the beginnings of a head cold.

So things that have happened since my last IHOP trip include a hair cut, another IHOP trip, Buffalo Wild Wings, Valentines day, and today's trip to Animal Kingdom.

So the hair cut was on Tuesday, and I cut all my hair off. Ok, I lied. I cut my hair to the top of my shoulders. Either way it's nice and short. It also has the ability to hold curl a bit better (although that might have something to do with the amount of dead ends the hair dresser cut off). After that I went into the locker room to do my hair all pretty and curly and ended up seeing Mary Poppins having a bad day. The poor girl was dropping everything everywhere and running into other girls. Well, I guess we can't be practically perfect all the time. As for me, after I made my hair look perfect, I went to work and about 2 hours later was rained upon. Guess where the curls went...that's right, down the drain with all the water. Although the rain was nice enough to leave all the hairspray behind...how nice.
I ended up doing two ECV runs in the rain that night. The first one I got soaked on (all the way to and from the Peter Pan ride), and the second one the person wasn't even at the Haunted Mansion when I got there. Grrrrrr.....
The night would end with all of us in strollers getting soaked in a cloud burst on our way back from the hub. We all laughed (except when people like me woke up with a soar throat the next morning).
However, ten of us ended up at IHOP that night, and let me tell you, those new shortcake pancakes are divine. I had mine smothered in cinnamon apple goop due to the Confectionery smelling like apple fritters all day. I also made a picture for our waitress on the back of my place mat, which everyone - including her- loved.

Wednesday I had off, but went to Buffalo Wild Wings that night with a few friends. I'll try again next week. Everyone complained that none of the music choices were good. It probably didn't help that it was karaoke night, and saddly not all who sounded drunk were.

Thursday was Valentines Day, where upon I opened a big old can of Martha Stuart/ my Mother on everyone and set a Valentine's table. Everyone got to wake up to a plate with a heart shaped box of chocolates and a valentine. Riley was also very sweet and got all of us princess figurines which we got to choose. I got Cinderella, and she has a skirt covered in glitter. Please disregard my moment of being four years old. Thank you.
I also had class that morning where we decided the thesis of our paper and chose positions for the paper. I have editor, and I don't want to hear any comments from the peanut gallery on that one, please.
A Pirate and Princess party was that night (and I worked it, as usual- and gave everyone valentines as was not usual), and had the privilege of standing outside directing people to stroller return in 48 degree weather. In shorts. Yes shorts, cause it was nice that afternoon, but the temperature dropped and I got hosed. Plus all my muscles and joints got cold which just made me hurt all over. I collapsed into bed immediately after I got home, and right after Shequasha's boyfriend looked at me and said I didn't look so good, was I all right.

This morning I could have told him, no I wasn't but then again I slept about 12 hours, meaning I didn't wake up till almost 1 o'clock. And I was still exhausted. But instead I made my self get up and went to Animal Kingdom for a few hours with Becca, Mariana, and this other girl who's name I sadly can't remember. Did the Dinosaurs ride (which is the not as cool equivalent to the Indiana Jones ride) and the Everest ride. Now that's a cool roller coaster. At one point in time you actually go backwards. We all then had dinner at a little Chinese place by the ride that was worth paying the $9 for. Now usually the parks give you a small amount for a not so small price, but here you got enough food to actually fill you up. I was happily amazed.

And so that was my past week in a nut shell, but now I fear my body is screaming at me to go to bed, so I think I shall do just that.
Good night all, hope your dreams are all sweet.

Not that I don't enjoy telling everyone everything...

but one really doesn't feel like posting at strange hours all the time. Ok, i lied, Wednesday and Thursday were not strange hours, I just had no motivation to write. My apologizes.

So, Wednesday: Hollywood Studios with my roomies (Victoria and Riley) and one extra (Erica). We had a BLAST! We started at one end of the park and worked our way to the other side. And lots of pictures were taken along the way. Don't worry I'll have them up soon. So we did Muppets 3-D, Star Tours (Star Wars) and got pictures on a speeder, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area- in which we got some really fun pictures. I got everyone to go to the animation studio. They loved it, and we all drew Pluto. We then saw the Beauty and the Beast show and I couldn't stop laughing because, hey, Beauty and the Beast meets interpretive dance...WHAT'S NOT TO LAUGH ABOUT!?! We then went on Tower of Terror. Now Riley and Victoria felt it was too short and so they decided to go on it again, Erica of course didn't go on it in the first place due to not liking drops. I however told them absolutely not, because if I did I would not be responsible for my body's reaction. Drops are fun, but I get such a bad adrenalin rush from them that I shake like I have too much coffee in my system. So once is enough, thank you very much. However, we were somehow able to ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster twice in a row. AWESOME RIDE!!! The fastest part is the take off and it's a 0-60 in 3.5 (or faster) followed by twists and loops. All of us were smiling and laughing when we got off.
We then ended the night with Fantasmic which is always delightful. However, we had front row seats so when the steamboat goes by with all the characters at the end, we could see everything clearly. Now this is great except for John Smith. It was obvious from his slight 5 o'clock shadow that the guy was brunette, but what got me and Riley to laugh so hard was that his platinum blond wig looked like it was a cheep $5 one from Walmart. OH MY GOD!!!! SO FUNNY!!!

Thursday was spent at class (I'm apparently in the most stressful class offered - go me.) and doing my laundry. Hurray for under ware! A group of us then went to Bahama Breeze for dinner. Lots of fun, good food, not an expense I'm willing to pay often. Yes I'm cheap, so sue me...on the other hand, don't. I have no money, hence the reason I'm cheap. Otherwise, try the Calypso pasta, it's delicious.

Friday was another day at work. End of story. I think I accidentally ate meat...oops.

Saturday (since it's now 4am) was spent working the Pirate and Princess Party. Always fun. Had the trash run at the end of the night and got liquid all over my hands and shorts. Don't wanna ask, but I'm pretty sure it's just soda, so I'm safe. My costume was not however, so I need tpo pick up a new one tomorrow. After work I ended up getting a ride from Ace (one of my co-workers) and he, Elaine and I all went to IHOP at 2am. Coffee, omelettes, and hash browns are so good at random hours of the morning. And now, I'm here finishing up this blog that started this morning cause I'm pretty sure you all want to know that I'm still breathing, and not in a ditch some where.

I was originally supposed to go to Animal Kingdom with some of my roomies tomorrow before work at 4pm, but that ain't happenin'.

Hope everyone has had an excellent last four days, and hopefully I'll have a long update next time as well.

So good night (or morning, if you prefer) and have a wonderful Sunday!!

Random guys gave me Mardi Gras beads...

No really. Random guest walked up to me and said "You need some beads" and placed them around my neck. So I am now the proud owner of 4 over-sized bead necklaces.
So updating might be nice, huh. Well, you didn't miss much with Sunday. I worked, end of story. Monday was a good day...sort of. I had work at 7:30am. Hahahaha.....ha... I quickly remembered as to why I hated high school. Stupid 5:50am. But in the end, it really was quite nice. I got everything ready for the park opening at 9am, and then I got off at 1:30pm. So that was me getting to deal as little with crazy people as possible. Didn't like waking up that early, but I ended up loving the shift.
Today of course was Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday if you will. I was sadly taken by surprise, and say that not because Iwhole heartedly celebrate Mardis Gras but because that means today (yes it's late) is Ash Wednesday. Hopefully I can find a Catholic church to kick off the Lenten season, but sadly I have no idea where to start. Apparently there is one by The Commons, but I don't know for sure. Otherwise I had a morning shift again this morning at 9:30 and was there till 6 due to a meeting. I didn't realize I got along with so many of my co-workers. Looks like strollers will be a great place after all.

But now, I think it might be time for bed...especially since my roomies and I are planning on going to Hollywood Studios tomorrow (I have the next 2 days off).

Good night everyone, and I hope someone out there had either a crayfish broil or a bowl of gumbo for me - especially since I was craving it all day. And no they don't sell it here, there is no New Orleans. That's just in Disneyland *tear*.

Don't you just love not being able to get up...

Sounds weird (well, to those who don't know me too well) but I felt physically to tired to get up this morning. Yes I stayed up late, but still 10 is not that early. Whatever, it's 12:30 and I'm UP!
I have Pirate and Princess party again tonight, so I won't go in to work till 6pm.
Yesterday's early morning did not make me happy. I had forgotten how much I hate 7am. But I think the reason I didn't like it was because I got kicked off of ECV rental so a trainee could learn, and got stuck cleaning strollers for the rest of the morning. Trust me when I say morning stroller rushes suck. But thankfully I asked my one manager if it was possible to be put outside after my break. He told me it was more than possible, and I got ECV rental again. The only difference was that we didn't have a mad rush, but instead the people who want ECV's but we don't have any for them. Telling people that there's a chance of getting one if they put their name on a wait list and wait for our call is always kind...I don't know, pathetic? But there was a small afternoon shower that had people returning their ECV's, making several individuals very happy.
I ran into my friend Christina on my way home and made plans to go grocery shopping together. Exciting, I know. But it was, especially since she came over to my apartment first. I made blueberry muffins!! And we sat, talked and ate muffins for about an hour.
Insttead of going to Walmart, we decided to try the Publix grocery store. Fabulous idea. It was slightly cheaper, and if you ever had to cash a check there, they only charge you a dollar for the service (Christine did, that's how I know). While there I picked up some yogurt and those Stella D'oro breakfast cookies; all of which I've been enjoying with my coffee as I write this.

Hopefully everyone has a wonderful day, and I'll write back later about tonight's party.
Love ya!!

I swam with sharks on Wednesday!!!

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Sadly I would have had the last two days worth of info up earlier, but I've been having computer issues. 'Tis ok, every thing's better. But yes, while all my faithful readers were freezing their rears off in below zero weather, I was over at Typhoon Lagoon (one of Disney's water parks).
The shark tank is one of the activities you can do there. You get a snorkel and then you swim across the top of the tank. Of course the minute you get to the water they inform you that not only do you have to be a strong swimmer, you also aren't allowed to swim with your feet, only your hands. So of course my minds panic mode sounded the alarm. So while they're warning us that the water's cold, I'm thinking "Crap, you can't kick your feet cause it'll alert the sharks to your presence!! Why am I doing this again!?!?" But it was cool. Plus they were leopard and hammerhead sharks so they only skimmed along the bottom of the tank. Who knows I may even repeat the experience one day...or not.
We also did all of the water slides there. SO MUCH FUN!!! The funny thing is that I didn't think you were supposed to get that much exercise at a water park. I mean, yah there's swimming, but climbing 3 stories worth of stairs for one slide? Plus there were several slides that required lots of walking to reach them due to the need for wait lines during the busier times of year. But hey, at least I know I had fun achieving great calves and thighs.
P.S. Virgin strawberry daiquiris are AMAZING!!!

After Typhoon we (my roomies Victoria and Becca, Mariana- Becca's co-worker, and I) went over to Epcot for a while. Originally we planned on eating dinner there, but we got there a little too late. That's fine, just gives me an extra reason to go back. We did go on a few rides while we were there. One ride was called Mission Earth. It is a simulator that allows you to feel roughly 85% of what astronauts feel (if I'm not mistaken). G-forces are fun, Mommy!!! Everyone should try it, if possible. We also did the Finding Nemo ride. Nothing spectacular, but really cute. The real fun part is at the entrance they have 3 animatronic seagulls that randomly start doing the "Mine, mine, mine..." bit. I laughed, took pictures, and I'm pretty sure annoyed Mariana.
We then headed over to the World Expo and Oh My God!!! Even at night it's amazing! All of the buildings are lined with white lights and they surround a lake so it all reflects. Uh! I tried to take pictures but there wasn't enough light to satisfy my camra's wants and needs so alas there weren't many pictures taken.
The fireworks were also amazing. Much better than the Magic Kingdom's usual show, in my humble opinion.
Once we got home, we all pretty much collapsed from exhaustion.

Today I had work, nothing special. I was kind of sad though...It was a beautiful day! Oh well...at least it was PAY DAY!!! Yah, I likes a money!! *no comment on strange sentence structure please*
Oh yah, we also watched Robin Hood while I was typing this. However, I have work at 9ama tomorrow and will need to pick up a new costume, do I bid you all-

GOOD NIGHT!

P.S. The best way to cook chicken is by half steaming, half boiling it in a sauce pan. Weird sounding...yes. But it works, and since we have cheap pots and pans, this keeps the pan bottom from burning.

It's Tuesday...

So I think I should write an update, don't you?!? So I haven't been able too sleep well the last two nights, so I'm sleepy tired. And that's ok, cause I have tomorrow off. HURRAH!!!
This evening was also a P&P party (I got to leave an hour in - thank God) and otherwise was relatively quiet. Then again I was posted at News Stand, which rarely gets busy unless everyone and their second cousin needs a poncho.
Otherwise, nothing extream happening in strollers. My bruise is going away, but nothing else. Although I'm about 2 weeks away from needing the next smallest size for my pants. I'M LOSING WEIGHT...THAT'S AMAZING!!! Now all I need to do is work on my tan, and life will be swell. And yes yoloyal readers all needed to know that because that was one of the few exciting things this week. YES...IT'S BEEN THAT BORING. Well, besides the room mate drama at least.

So yah, that's all. Hope you're all having a bit more interesting time this week.
Hugs and kisses to all!!!

Catch-up time

So last night's Pirate and Princess Party was...ok. Not terribly exciting since it was kindda rainy kinda gloomy. BUt hey, when it's quiet that means there's no stress. Of course all of us girls start singing and dancing to the music being played, while our manager Brian rolls his eyes at us. Plus at about 12:30 am we're all dancing and singing as we gather strollers from the HUB. Good times, good times. Found out that next week I get 38 hours. WHOOPY!!! Let the money roll.

Also, next week my classes start, and I'm actually kind of excited. Can't wait to see how Disney runs classes. This also means that I will always have Thursdays off. The reason is that both of my classes are on Thursday, therefore there is no time to go to work (8-12 and 3-5).

Didn't know there was an all year Christmas shop in Liberty Square. Found that out today while walking around the park (had to drop some stuff off to my manager Holly). Lots of Disney ornaments...I could just imagine my mother drooling (I of course was nearly drooling from my crush being the one running the register). Then across the street I found a shop that sold dolls of our presidents. My mind began to reel with the endless possibilities of what people could do with them.

Other than that, there's nothing new. Oh, wait, now I remember...one of my roomies found a cockroach today. How nice. Also, some of the girls here are getting/already are sick. How I'm not getting sick remains a mystery.

Good night everyone, pleasant dreams!

Sorry

for not posting lately, but there hasn't been much to post. Although, thanks to stroller stacking I now have this amazing bruise on my hip. I's purple, magenta and slightly yellow. At least my body was nice enough to make it complimentary colors!
Tonight I'll be working the Pirate and Princess party, so I'll be working from 6:30-1:45am. Not bad really. But I will be there just in time for the change over (from regular hours to the party), that'll be a treat.
In other news, the Brazilians left. It was kinda sad since those guys were really nice. But some of them were kind of annoying. Oh well. And that's been my life the last two days. Hopefully I have more to write after tonight's party.

Hello everybody

Just to let you all know, Hollywood Studios (aka MGM) is fabulous. Becca and I spent the day there yesterday (I think I already told all of you this) and had a blast. Tower of Terror is fabulous if any of you like long drops (12 stories if I'm not mistaken) in which you drop multiple times. I of course ended up shaking so hard from adrenaline my muscles felt like I had just done intensive weight training...go figure, right. We did the Star Wars ride (no Indiana Jones - it's a stunt show here), Muppets 3-D, we went to this little animation presentation which you learned to draw characters afterwards (we drew Mickey in the class), we saw the 30min Beauty and the Beast show/review....man that was different. We had lunch at Pizza Planet (we giggled like the insane school girls that we are) and ended our night with Fantasmic. Now this was cool. I had originally told Becca that we had to see it (especially since she had never seen the one in Disneyland- she's a California native). When she asked me what it was I explained it to her based on the Disneyland version. This one, however, is in its own amphitheater/island. It's also longer, has a few new things, and sadly no Peter Pan (it was replaced with a Pocahontas piece). We got slightly wet, but had so much fun...and we LOVED it.

Today was replaced with doing my grocery shopping and trying to get my computer to go faster. Fun fun fun...not. However I am now off to do some much needed laundry.

Hope you're all having fun!!!

You all deserve a new post...

so that is what I will give you! As for the late shift, getting home to bed at 4am was not the greatest, but we had fun. By about 2 (when the park closes) almost everyone had cleared out so stroller gathering was easy enough. Then we hopped on the same bus to get home. It was a bit quiet (some of us were pounding music to stay awake, while others just fell asleep) but still nice. Also, there is something oh so delightful about being able to walk up and down Main St. without the crowds.

Last night wasn't too bad either. I didn't start working till almost 2pm so that was nice. I also caught the first 3 hours of the Pirate and Princess Party. SO COOL!!! Yes I'm a dork, but it was. Main St. has this mood lighting depending on the music. When you have the Disney princess music playing, there were blues, pinks and purples along with a crown spot light on the buildings. With the pirate music it was reds and dark blues with a skull and cross-bones spot light. The parade was awesome. You saw any and all characters that had a relation to either being a pirate or a princess (Yes Jack Sparrow was there - and he flirts with the crowd). And the fireworks were AMAZING!!! They had it so that it seemed like the castle was being blown up! I think next time I'll have to buy a ticket and experience the whole think as a regular spectator, and not as an employee.

Today we (Becca and I) are off to Hollywood Studios. This time I have working batteries (bought for $15 - make sure to buy your own batteries OUTSIDE THE PARKS!!) so I'll hopefully get some good pictures.

Slept late...

and it was wonderful. Sorry I didn't write anything yesterday, but that's what happens when you go home and pass out from exhaustion. Eight hours shouldn't be exhausting, but it was. Although it might have something to do with the fact that I was cleaning and sending out strollers all morning. This means I was continuously bending over for about 3 hours. It didn't help that I was continuously getting pissed at the one full-timer who was supposed to be helping. He stood around talking while the IP (international program) and I had to work harder to get the strollers unstacked, cleaned and lined up (and everyone wanted a stroller - and most didn't need one!!) However, Victor (the IP from Brazil) got me to calm down right before I did something rash (like strangle the other guy) and then proceeded to push several strollers at him (aiming to hit...CONTACT!). I was then informed that it was wonderful to be able to speak Portuguese, to which I replied I wish I did. I was then taught a basic phrase (I won't remember it but it's the principle of the thing) which made me smile, and strollers a bit more bearable.
So while exhausting, yesterday was defiantly fun in it's own special way.

Tonight is the LATE (9:45pm-3:45am) shift. Wish me luck!!

My heels hurt!!!!

No really. Standing for 6 hours more or less on end kills one's feet. And since I center my weight on my heels...guess what gets put through paces the most. However, running the ECV rental all morning defiantly puts you on an adrenalin rush really quickly. I only had ONE (count 'em one) cup of coffee this morning. By 12:30 I was about to rip my own vocal cords out of my throat (if you can't speak, you can't give shpeial). I was getting flustered (Mayday, mayday), tongue tied, and stressed. I was then never relieved till we had a wait list started, and I was the only one working the rentals who knew what they were doing. HURRAY! I will say though it's really quite fun telling people (after they tell YOU that their disgusted with you and not haing one of the limited ECV waiting for them) that you're really sorry, but there is most defiantly nothing you can do. I think he was trying to use my "earning my ears" badge to his advantage. Yah, not so much. What yah gunna do?
I did go shopping at the Cast Connection today. And guess what...I got mugs from "Cinderella's Royal Table". That would be the restaurant inside of the castle. They're so fun. In fact they're glass 12oz beer mug/steins - whatever - with white writing. It's slightly oxymoron-ish but oh so cute.

Ah well, I've an early morning.

Bibbidi -Boppidi- Boo...Sweet dreams go to you!

The 3 C's of Late Hours

They are Creepy, Cool and CLOSING. Yes, I did closing tonight. But that is fine with me, cause there was NOBODY there today. The park felt like it was empty. However there is always one cranky person, no matter what. And guess who got to deal with her...Me. Whatever, I just wanted to laugh at her and tell her it was her own fault she didn't read the EVC contract. Either way, it's 11:00pm, and I just got home and am now eating dinner.
As for the 3 C's - this is in relation to what the park is like 2 hours after its official closing. I found out that there is a way to walk through the park, instead of the tunnels, to get out. I have to head to the opposite end of the park (Fantasyland) and it is dark except for some of the shop windows and some select rides. So it's cool to be there when it's empty, because you can then listen to the music and stroll-actually stroll- through the park. However it is way creepy. The only thing that kept me from feeling like I was in a horror movie was that it was Disney World. And as we all know. those kinds of things don't happen there.

And that ladies and gentlemen is all for tonight. Pleasant dreams everyone.

P.S. I get my 1st Disney Paycheck tomorrow!!! GAH!

Compleated Training and Now for Pictures

Right, so I'm officially allowed to work the entrance to the Magic Kingdom without a baby-sitter. Yah, that's right, the trust me to hand out EVCs, strollers, wheel chairs, and much, much more. One has to wonder if that's safe. At least I know it's not safe to stack 22 pound strollers. No really; my training buddy nicked the tip of her finger today during our test. I'm allowed to stack them, but it'll take a while before I'm good at it. At least I can guaranty the gaining of arm muscles. HURRAY!!! But I'm excited, this will have me moving around, and I enjoy talking to my co-cast members. I don't enjoy extra magic hours. I get to work the 9:45pm - 3:45am shift on Sunday *twirls finger in excited motion*. I think God hates me.

In other news, I finally got my Photobucket account to work with me, so you should see some pictures soon...hopefully tonight.

However, I'm about an hour away from collapsing. And with that I bid you all "Adieu."

2nd day off

Not much to talk about. It's kind of cold (68 degrees)...OK, that's not cold, just cool. I'm also on Skype (cause I'm fed up with AIM) and if you want to talk it's the same screen name as AIM (dancerljc). Have a good evening everyone!

1st day off

So today is my first day off...and it's fabulous. Me and Victoria are sitting and watching Little Mermaid while I write this. So last night we were going to go to Pleasure Island, but that didn't happen. 'Tis quite all right. I got home at 9-ish last night and due to it being my first day of training, I couldn't really walk around I had been standing for so long that I pretty much collapsed when I got home.
So it's been raining, and due to this I learned what a "poncho rush" is. When it goes from no rain to down pour in 3 seconds, people want to get out in a rush, or try to get in in a rush they like to stop at the entrance/exit to get ponchos. So I know how to do a basic transaction without thinking. Weeeeeeee!!!! Oh, and if you ever needed info on renting EVC's at the Magic Kingdom, I can help you. And while I still don't know if strollers will be the barrel of monkeys everyone says it is, I know that it will never get boring. So much to do, so many people take care of.
Well, i hope you all had a wonderful day, I'll write later.
BYE!!!

8 hour day

8 hours of walking around all day (plus being up since 5am) really sucks. Plus I got my uniform, I mean "costume" today. Hahahahaha...I got a ice cream, pastel version of a cadet uniform. No ones butt looks good in the shorts OR pants (I just have a flat one - this is good, cause it doesn't look saggy) but, the shorts do give me a flat tummy, so it's all good...kind of. Don't worry you'll all see pictures of it sooner or later.
Tomorrow is the first day of training, and I have yet to decide if that's a good thing or not. Either way, once I get trained I get to work scheduled hours. And the minute I get to do that, I get to make constant money.
Tomorrow we all plan on going to Pleasure Island for Shaquasia's birthday. I'm excited, this should be fun.
However my mind has gone slightly numb, so I shall bid you all good night....'NIGHT!!!

Thursday, January 10, 2008

lots to talk about...

As the title indicates there is lots to talk about. If anyone remembers I said I went to The Magic Kingdom yesterday. My room mates and I totally geeked out! Some of the girls had never been to either park (here or Disneyland) so introductions were made. First ride = space mountain. SO MUCH FUN! We laughed so hard. Plus my sorority sis gave me a challenge: to take as many pictures with characters as possible. Well, I have taken on the challenge, and my roomies are willing to help me. Then we all geeked out again at the end of the night when we watched the fireworks. New rule: always stand beyond Main St. otherwise you can't see as much.

Today I had my first day of training. I got to learn how to use a register...for four hours. But that's OK cause those little suckers are way involved. Also, who knew that my mother's way of handing back change was the Disney way!?! I had to stop myself from laughing when I realized this. At least something will be easy. After that I had the pleasure of falling asleep put by the pool. Yah for 80 degree weather!! owever, this evening was the real show. My roomies and I all went to Bennigan's tonight. Oh Monte Cristos, how I love thee. Apparently the balloon animal boy loved me though. Joy. It wasn't too bad until Victoria told me that he was "so flirting" with me. REALLY!?! He became the main topic of discussion over dinner, but I won't relate what was said (trust me, it's safer that way). Before we left however he came back to our table and showed us how to make a balloon butterfly, which he gave to me...of course. Not a bad guy, but not interested.

Ah well, that's been the last 24 hours in a nut shell. Hope you all had a great day!
'Night!

P.S. I will have my Photobucket account up and working real soon, so stay "tooned"...yes I'm cheese-y, so sue me. On the other hand, don't, cause I have no money.

Disney time

So when employed by Disney you have parties thrown in your honor (last night was our pool party for kicking off the semester) and you get into the park for free...whenever you want. So today we all got out employee passes and my room mates and I pan on heading to the park. Now I will be taking lots of pictures, but intelligent me forgot her flash-drive that allows for the memory card to be plugged in. This will be fixed soon, so no worries. Also, I have my new address. for those interested it is:
Meadow Creek Dr. Apt# 2908
Buena Vista, FL 32821
So stay tuned for the pictures to come!!

JOB TITLE!

Ok, so when you go to Disney World, you hope that you get a fun job right!?! Guess what I'm working...that's right Main St. Gate. I hand out STROLLERS. But as I have now figured out, I set the tone for the day, so don't piss me off or I could set the guests on you. OK? OK. but what ever. I'll be kept busy, plus I can pick up extra hours (and I believe those can be picked up anywhere in the park) so I'm okay with this.

Monday, January 7, 2008

first day...

I'm exhausted!!! I've been up since 5am and have yet to sleep (that's right, I went a full day without a nap...I deserve a medal). Let's see...there are six girls in my apartment (which is quite large). Three of them and myself decided to have an adventure this evening when we tried to find a Target (we ended up at Wal*Mart instead) in which we laughed, got lost and found an LDS temple. That was interesting. No, really. My other two room mates made fried chicken and shells & cheese (New rule:Add pepper! It is beyond wonderful!), and then proceeded to play hip-hop for the next two hours. We decided not to complain since it was the first night and they were still unpacking. But now I need a shower and a good nights sleep. P.S. You all think internet in the Ravines' suck!?! Try having the ability to plug 4 cords in, but they don't like to stay in. I think we're all going to pitch in some money and buy a wireless hub. We shall see. Night, night!

Taking off

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down

I'd just stare out my window
Dreamin' of what could be

And if I'd end up happy
I would pray

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out

Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I prayed I could breakaway

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly

I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky

And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change

And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun

But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway

Da da da'd da da
Da da da'd da da

Da da da'd da da da da

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean

Get on board a fast train
Travel on a jetplane, far away

And breakaway

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly

I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway

Out of the darkness and into the sun
I won't forget all the ones that I love

I gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change

And breakaway

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging round revolving doors

Maybe I don't know where they'll take me

But, gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye, gotta

Take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun

But I won't forget the place I come from

I gotta take a risk, take a chance, make a change

And breakaway
Breakaway
Breakaway...

I'm so excited! I will be arriving at 9:35am in Orlando, FL.
WISH ME LUCK!!!
